Terms of Use

These terms cover your use of SquaresBets (squaresbets.com and any address ending in .squaresbets.com). By using the site you agree to them. If you don't, please don't use it.

What SquaresBets is

SquaresBets is software that lets a person (the “host”) set up a football or basketball squares board, share a link, and let others (“players”) claim squares. The site keeps track of who has which square, draws the numbers, and works out which square wins each quarter from the scores.

We are a software provider only. We do not organize, run, host or take part in any pool or wager. We never collect, hold, pay out or transfer money between hosts and players, and we are not a party to anything they agree between themselves. Any money a host and players exchange is arranged entirely outside SquaresBets.

Your responsibilities

• You are responsible for following every law and rule that applies to you, including any rules about gambling, contests, age limits, and where you are located. If a pool would be unlawful where you or your players live, don't run it or join it.
• Hosts are responsible for their boards: the rules they set, collecting and paying out any money, resolving disputes, and correcting scores that turn out to be wrong.
• Keep your host link and key private. Anyone who has them can run your board.
• Don't misuse the site: no scraping, flooding, trying to get around limits, or using it to harass or mislead people.
• Don't put anything unlawful or abusive in board titles, team names, notes or player names.

Scores and live scoring

Hosts can enter scores by hand. Boards with live scoring fill in scores, quarter results and scoring plays automatically from a third-party sports data feed. That data can be delayed, wrong or temporarily unavailable. The host can always correct a board, and results shown by SquaresBets are a convenience, not an official record. Settle any disagreement using the official game result.

Paid features

• Live scoring for one board is a one-time payment for that board, through Stripe. It is not a subscription.
• SquaresBets Pro is a monthly subscription, through Stripe. It renews each month until you cancel, which you can do at any time from the billing link in your welcome email. Cancelling stops future charges. If a subscription ends or goes unpaid, the Pro page is paused so new boards can't be made from it; boards that already exist keep working.
• Prices are shown before you pay. Payments are generally non-refundable, except where the law requires it or where we choose to make an exception. If something went wrong with a payment, contact us and we will look into it.

Ownership

SquaresBets, its design and its software belong to us. You keep ownership of what you type (board titles, names, notes), and you give us permission to store and show it as needed to run your board.

Boards are temporary

Boards are deleted automatically after 90 days with no activity, or after 14 days if nobody ever claimed a square. Don't rely on SquaresBets as a long-term record.

No warranty, and limits on our liability

SquaresBets is provided “as is” and “as available”. We try hard to keep it working and accurate, but we don't promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, for disputes between hosts and players, or for money lost or owed in any pool, and our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the three months before it arose (or $50 if you paid nothing).

Changes

We may update these terms or the site. When we change the terms we will update the date above. Using the site after a change means you accept it. We may also suspend or remove boards, venues or access that break these terms or put the service at risk.
